BEERS from the UK’s most critically-acclaimed breweries will be available in Argyll this summer at Fyne Ales’ annual FyneFest event. The June festival, which attracts over 2,000 visitors to Glen Fyne, will feature breweries including Beavertown, Magic Rock, Siren, Buxton, and Manchester’s Cloudwater Brewing Co, recently named the fifth best brewery in the world by respected beer scoring website, Ratebeer. Representing Scotland alongside the festival organisers, established names including Fierce Beer and Edinburgh’s Pilot brewery will be on offer; while fellow Scots breweries Out of Town, Up Front and Campervan will be featured alongside other new breweries including Cornwall’s Verdant and Cheltenham’s Deya Brewing Co. In total, over 160 beers from over 35 breweries from the UK and Europe will be available at the 2017 festival taking place from 2-4 June, with more announcements due in the coming weeks. The breweries announcement is part of an exciting wave of news about FyneFest 2017, including a range of new beer-centric initiatives within the festival. “While we’re proud of the fact that FyneFest brings together elements of music festivals and food festivals, beer is the star of the show for the majority of festival-goers,” explained Fyne Ales Managing Director, Jamie Delap. “Developing on the success of the Brewers’ Bar introduced last year, we’re putting even more focus on beer for 2017. We’re delighted to announce our first batch of brewery partners, and to introduce three new beer concepts for this year’s festival: Brewers Panels, timed specialrelease tappings and an on-site micro-brew.” The Brewers Panels will see representatives from some of the UK’s leading breweries come together to discuss beers of specific styles, while in the Main Bar, a tap will be reserved for rare and exclusive keg beers that will be tapped at specific intervals. Edinburgh’s Campervan Brewing will use its mobile pilot brew kit to brew an exclusive collaboration beer in the festival field during the weekend. Alongside the wide selection of beer on offer, the festival will serve ciders, wines, spirits, and cocktails on site to compliment the eleven local and award-winning food vendors confirmed to attend, including long-time Fyne Ales collaborator, Loch Fyne Oysters. The festivals music line-up, known for its diversity of styles, has been confirmed with local act Dr Hip & The Blues Operation headlining alongside award-winning ska band Bombskare. Many of festival-goers favourite features will return, with Fyne Ales promising an improved Walkers Bar for those who decide to venture up the glen, and the return of Scotland’s biggest pub quiz on the Saturday afternoon in the Brewery Courtyard. The familyfriendly event, which also welcomes dogs, has a full programme of children’s entertainment planned to keep little ones amused over the three-day event. Further details of FyneFest 2017, including ticket information can be found on the FyneFest website. Additional festival announcements are expected soon – festivalgoers are encouraged to keep an eye on Fyne Ales on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the latest news.
