The Arran Banner

Myopic view

-

Sir, It was disappointing to see Timothy Billings’s letter in the Banner of May 6 only hours before he was elected as one of the local councillors, where he singularly attacked the SNP canvassing posters which had been placed on trees and lampposts – as is customary before elections.

Did he not see the Labour posters, often on the same trees and lampposts? One wonders, when there is such a myopic view of SNP, whether he will be able to put this aside and work for the good of Arran.

Time will tell if he will lay party politics aside and work with his councillor colleagues for betterment of the island and, indeed, the entire area, or continue to try to score political points by taking side swipes at the SNP.

As an aside, given that Mr Billings sees these posters as such a blot on the landscape, does this mean that we will not see any Conservative posters throughout the island in a few weeks as the general election approaches, or will his rhetoric be conveniently forgotten?

Yours,

Margaret Kay, Lamlash.
