Film about a trip on the 324

-

A new short film has been produced with the unlikely subject of a trip on the 324 – the Northend bus route.

Arran Theatre and Arts Trust has just completed the project for North Ayrshire Council’s Ventures Trust. The aim of the Ventures Trust is to create employment opportunities. Two returning graduates – Hamish Finlay in film and Simon Sloan in digital design – were contracted to work alongside the Arran Trust, five Arran High School pupils and several members of the community to produce the short film.

The 324 (Northend bus route) is a short film of approximately eight minutes. Visualised from the point of view of a young man travelling on the bus, the film conveys his feelings of isolation, heightened anxiety and self-doubt, and his inability to communicate with other passengers of his own age. In addition to their involvement in the making of the film, Hamish and Simon have gained valuable experience in how projects are conceived, funded and managed.

The Arran Trust will now help them in developing new initiatives while they provide the impetus for a new generation involved in the arts on the island and beyond.

The five high school pupils were Rory Morrison, Nastassja Alberti, Dylan Alberti, Lauren Robertson and Alexander Wilson.

The making of the film has provided valuable experience in scripting, acting and technical processes.

The film will also be an addition to their personal portfolios as they move into further education.

The film can be viewed on YouTube at this link: www. arrantheatreandarts.co.uk/ the324.
