Can you offer a home to a vulnerable child?

-

Would-be foster carers are being urged to open their hearts and their homes to a young child in need.

Across North Ayrshire, including Arran, new carers are needed to offer care and support to children and young people who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in need of a fostering placement.

And during Foster Care Fortnight, which is on now, it is hoped that those people who may have thought about becoming a foster carer will take the first step.

Becoming a foster carer will make an incredible difference to a young boy or girl in need of a caring and stable home.

North Ayrshire needs local carers for North Ayrshire children. Other councils and agencies may advertise in this area but the children they are recruiting for do not reside locally – that’s why North Ayrshire is looking for local foster carers for our children.

North Ayrshire provides excellent support and training for all carers and many stay with the authority for a long time – one couple have been carers for 40 years.

So if you are thinking about fostering or want more information, call 01294 311505 or email adfos@north-ayrshire.gov. uk or go to the foster caring section at www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk.

The family placement team will also be holding an open evening on Tuesday May 23, at its offices at 47 West Road, Irvine, KA12 8RE, from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Potential carers can drop in and chat to staff. It is an ideal opportunity to find out more with no pressure or obligation.
