Goalie grabs great goal for Southend’s second

-

Lamlash and Southend met for the second time in three days, this time in the league. Southend scored both the goals in the first half. Lamlash striker Grant Adamson had an early contender for miss of the season.

Ben Tattersfield swung in a brilliant low cross beating the Southend defenders but the ball bobbled as Grant looked set to score an open goal from 10 yards.

Southend’s usual goalkeeper, Stevie Judge, was thrown up front in a shake up to get more fresh legs on the pitch after a gruelling cup final.

It turned out to be spirited choice as Judge blasted in a 25-yard effort from outside the area over the top of an outstretched David Heenan in goal.

Ryan Armstrong scored the only other goal of the match when he turned in a right-footed strike inside the box.

Referee Archie McNicol gave Judge the man of the match after a great goal and performance while out of his normal position. Lewis Kennedy got the only yellow card after an off-theball incident.
