Machrie Bay Golf Club
Monday June 12, club championships finals at Machrie Bay. On a stunning evening, there was a good crowd out supporting. Many thanks to David Jeffrey for the wonderful condition of the course. In the President’s Cup, Brian Sherwood beat Colin Rutterford. The ladies’ final went down the 18th hole and it was very close. Great golf by both with Kema Genda just edging it over Piet Johnston. The gents’ final finished at the 17th green and Phil Betley beat Sandy Murray to win the cup. Two new names on the boards and a really lovely evening all round.

Whiting Bay Golf Club
Wednesday June 14, Summer Trophy 10th round. A total of 22 played and the windy conditions certainly made themselves felt as CCS went out to 65. Beating that by three, Captain Wolfi won by two shots from Frazer Barr. 1 Wolfi Kroner 15, 62, 2 Frazer Barr 9, 64, 3 Kevin McAleney 12, 65, 4 David Morrison 9, 66. The best scratch score came from Nicol Auld on 72 and magic twos came from John Dick at the second and the 17th and from Frazer Barr at the 17th.
Saturday June 17. The AGA Hope Cup. In the first round of the prestigious AGA Hope Cup at Whiting Bay, Brodick beat Shiskine, Lamlash beat Corrie and Lochranza beat Machrie. The semi-final ties are Brodick v Lochranza and Whiting Bay v Lamlash. Tee-offs are 1pm followed by the final at 6pm. Come up watch what should be a fabulous golfing spectacle.
Sunday June 18. Medal. A total of 15 played on a fine warm morning on the course set up for the Hope Cup ties played the day before. Some devious pin positions seemed to catch plenty of players out as CSS went out to 65. 1 Graeme Crichton 13, 63, ACB, 2 Stan Rainey 11, 63, 3 David Brookens 11, 66, 4 Markus Kroner 6, 67 and lowest gross score. Stan Rainey bagged a magic two at the second and David Morrison and Neil McKechnie did likewise at the 17th.

Brodick Golf Club
Wednesday June 14, Summer Cup, 32 played, CSS 64. 1 Alastair Dobson 7010=60, 2 Jimmy Armit 7311=62 ACB, 3 Greg McCrae 67-5=62. Scratch,Greg McCrae 67.
Sunday June 18, Royal Bank Shield, four-ball better ball, 22 played. 1 John McKean and Bob McCrae 56pts, 2 Nicol Hume and Kenny McMillan 58pts, 3 Ewan McKinnon and Gordon Hendry 59pts ACB. Well done to our Hope Cup team on winning a very closely fought first round match against Shiskine and good luck on finals day.

Ladies’ section: Wednesday June 14. Despite the lovely weather and the good condition of the course, only five ladies played in the Stroke 3 competition, CSS was 65. 1 Sheena Murchie 82-16= 66, 2 Kate McAdam 8414=70, 3 Anne McVicar 9317=76. Sheena also won the scratch.
Shiskine Golf Club
Wednesday June 14, 12hole medal, 14 played. 1st Class: Phil Betley 46-6=40, Jimmy Morrison 49-5=44, Jack McNally 50-5=45 BIH. Scratch, Phil Betley -46. 2nd Class: Ron Woods 54-10=44, Reuben Betley 74-16=52BIH, Dave Nicholson 62-10=52.
Corrie Golf Club
Wednesday June 14, Wednesday Cup. 1 Len Hartley 75-15=60, 2 G Andrew 70-9=61, 3 S Beardsley 70-6=64. Scratch, G Andrew, S Beardsley. Another good performance from Len after his strong performance in the Thomson Cup.
