Duo attempt to cross Scotland in six days
A former Arran High School student and Machrie resident, now living in Aberdeen, will attempt to run across the width of Scotland from Ardnamurchan to Aberdeen in six days to raise money for a cancer charity.
Corri Black, a professor of public health and health service research at Aberdeen University, will attempt the 240 mile challenge with team mate Carron McKellar in an effort to raise £5,000 for Maggie’s Centre, Aberdeen.
Starting at Ardnamurchan lighthouse, the most westerly mainland point in Scotland, the two fundraisers will run along paths and trails with the intention of completing their chal- lenge six days later at Maggie’s Centre in Aberdeen. Their aim is to raise awareness about the many people living with cancer and the work that Maggie’s Centre does to support these patients, family and friends.
Maggie’s Centre was started in 1996 by Maggie Keswick Jencks who was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her vision for a new approach to cancer care allows for people to live life more positively with cancer through participation in medical treatments and with the support of professionals in a relaxed domestic atmosphere.
