Big Noise comes to a wee island
Big Noise Raploch is bringing its youth orchestra on a residential trip to the Arran from July 24 to 26.
The band said the island, affectionately known as Scotland in miniature, felt like the perfect place to go and make a Big Noise this summer.
Big Noise Raploch is one of four Big Noise programmes run by the charity Sistema Scotland. The charity is on a mission to create permanent social change in some of the most deprived communities in Scotland.
It uses participation in Big Noise orchestra programmes to change lives by fostering confidence, discipline, teamwork, pride and aspiration in the young people taking part.
Team leader Vicky Williams said: ‘Big Noise Raploch was the first Big Noise programme and has been running since 2008. We now have a full-sized symphony orchestra and have taken the orchestra on trips to Venezuela and Italy … and now Arran.’
The orchestra will be performing at the Lochranza and Catacol village hall on Tuesday July 25 at 7.30pm.
Sistema Scotland was created to transform lives and communities through music.
The Big Noise orchestra programme enables young people to reach their full potential and lead successful and fulfilled lives. It works intensively with around 2,000 children and young people, as well as their families, and the broader community towards permanent social change.
