Not a great advert

-

Sir, As a ‘second home owner’ on Arran and a lover of the island, I rent my cottage our to holiday visitors during the season. This season I have never heard so many complaints regarding the facilities available.

Firstly my guests complain that they have been ‘caught short’ on several occasions and find it most embarrassing to have to go into a cafe or restaurant and ask to use their toilet, even though they are quite prepared to pay a small charge that several are rightly charging. Many of my guests say they will not come back to Arran until the position is corrected. Great advert for holidaying on Arran.

May I suggest that we invite the whole council and local MSPs over to Arran for the day and keep them ‘out and on the go’ for several hours and when they need ‘to go’ tell them to find an open toilet or a big bush. Maybe then they will see how ridiculous their decision to close the toilets is, especially on a holiday island. These people sit on their ‘behinds’ miles away and make decisions that do not affect them.

Second, come over to Arran for a great holiday with children ... what rubbish now that several swing parks etc are being closed. Talk about biting yourself on the bum. Why not just cancel the ferry and the big ugly terminal as well. That will save money also.

Yours,

Jack Cowan, Giffnock.
