McKinven and Colville carries out all aspects of general building, renovation and refurbishment work, including new builds, extensions, conversions, fitting windows, doors, bathrooms and kitchens, plus joinery, electrical, decoration and tiling work for commercial and domestic clients - everything from replacing a single pane of glass and fitting double glazing, to fixing locks and putting up shelves. ‘We offer a range of trades within our company now, and would like to let existing and new clients know about our services, which also includes a 24/7 emergency call-out service to deal with any building emergencies,’ Barry said. The company’s 25 employees work alongside a network of local subcontractors. ‘The success of any company is dependent on the quality of its staff, and ours are excellent,’ Barry said. ‘We get fantastic feedback from customers about our workmen’s standard of work and respectful manner.’ McKinven and Colville’s building work has proven to be award-winning, with their Campbeltown Town Hall restoration project winning the Judges’ Award at the prestigious Herald Property Awards for Scotland. On being a part of the restoration of the iconic structure, Barry said: ‘It was a huge privilege helping to bring the Town Hall back to its former glory. Local projects like this are always very important to us.’ McKinven and Colville building contractors continues to grow from strength to strength, carrying out work not only in Kintyre, but also in Tarbert and Mid Argyll. ‘Although the company was created more than 50 years ago, we have moved with the times,’ Barry added. ‘Improving things like our environmental awareness, and work practices and methods is very important to us.’
