Lamlash SWI took the bulk of the trophies at the Arran SWI Federation annual handicraft show, which was held last Wednesday at the community theatre in Lamlash.

Taking home seven trophies, they were closely followed by Kildonan with six, in part owing to the handwork of Nancy Bremner and Judith Baines who won best in show and runner up. Shiskine followed closely behind with five trophies including the coveted best community tray whose theme this year was Taste of the Raj. Cor- rie SWI took four trophies and Kilmory one, including a jointly shared trophy only available to institutes with fewer than 25 members.

As reported in last week’s Banner the show had a healthy entry of 365 entries across 21 categories, and the five institutes on Arran displayed an enormous amount of talent shared across the Arran SWI Federation. Show co-conveners Morag Munro and Vicki Milne who awarded the trophies at the prize-giving, along with honorary member Mary McKenzie, thanked all of the entrants, praising them for the quality of their work and for their continued commitment towards the SWI. A special mention was also made for the significant contribution of knitwear which is donated to the Neo-Natal Unit at Crosshouse Hospital every year.
