Toilet funding

Sir, When booking a Premier Inn room online, at the checkout there is a line saying: Would you care to donate to Great Ormond Street Hospital for children: with boxes for 30p, £1, other.

The powers that be could ask CalMac to add a line at their checkout when vehicles are booked online. It could be: ‘Would you care to donate to the community-run public toilets on Arran: with boxes for 50p, £1, other.

This should cost CalMac very little. Once a month they send donations collected to some local body, such as the community council – which divides it equally among all the public toilet groups. All done online at very little cost. It might go quite a way to funding the toilets.
