Arran Ladies Golf Union

Saturday September 2, Island Championship. The final of the Island Championship was played in Shiskine between Ann May and Susan Butchard, both members of Brodick, and the best two lady golfers on the island. The weather was dry and sunny with a testing wind. Susan took an early lead winning the first two holes but as they settled into their game they won alternate holes until Ann won 9 and 10 to square the match. Then they won alternate holes again until the match was all square on the 18th tee. Susan narrowly missed her putt for a three but Ann sunk hers to win the match one up.

Congratulations to Ann, a new name on the trophy which Susan has won three times before. It was a delight for all the spectators to watch such good golf played in such good spirit.

Fixture: Saturday September 16, Cir Mhor at 12.30pm at Whiting Bay.
