Arran disabled riding group gets cash boost from Scottish Salmon Company

The Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) has made a donation of £693.95 to local charity RDA Arran, the island’s horse riding group for disabled children and adults.

Following a decision to select the charity by the SSC site team in Lamlash, Jamie Sillars, assistant site manager, attended one of Arran RDA’s morning sessions to meet with the group’s volunteers and riders, and to present the donation from SSC.

The funds which were donated were raised at the Brodick Highland Games earlier in the year where SSC sold its salmon in a Wooleys bun to visitors.

SSE chief executive Craig Anderson said: ‘We are proud to be involved in such a well-loved community event as the Brodick Highland Games, and it is great that we are able to support a worthy local cause which does so much for the people of Arran.

‘We are passionate about the promotion of health and wellbeing in the communities where we live and work, and it is clear that the RDA Arran Group is also working toward this common goal. We are pleased that our donation will help the group to continue its great work in the Arran community.’

Sue Tozer, chairwoman of RDA Arran, said: ‘We would like to thank the Scottish Salmon Company for its generous donation. It is support like this from the local community that enables us to continue to provide our riders with a fun and safe environment to aid their personal development.

‘Our volunteers work immensely hard to care for and learn with our riders, and seeing the difference we can make in their lives is very special.’
