Arran’s happy campers celebrate their success
Arran was well represented at the AA Caravan and Camping Awards at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show in Birmingham last week.
Taking the national honours, as previously reported in the Banner, Seal Shore camping and touring site were there to receive their small campsite of the year award, and Runach Arainn lifted the glamping site of the year prize.
Seal Shore manager Teresa Deighton said: ‘We are overwhelmed to receive this national award for a small island campsite. It is great because we are family run, and to get this recognition from the AA is a great reward for all our hard work.’
Delighted
Pippa Downing, marketing director at Runach Arainn, said: ‘We were delighted to be awarded the AA glamping site of the year award – a real surprise for our small site on Arran.
‘We are especially proud to receive such an accolade, having worked hard to develop the glamping in an eco-friendly way, so holidays can be sustainable as well as loads of fun. With log burners and solar lighting in the yurts, posh compost loos in the private bathrooms, and orchard and forest garden to explore, being green goes hand in hand with a luxury glamping experience on our beautiful Scottish island.’
As well as receiving their awards, all winners across the 12 categories will feature in the 50th anniversary edition of the AA Caravanning and Camping Guide. Each of the 800 sites included in the guide has been visited by one of the AA’s experienced campsite inspectors, grading sites from one to five pennants, based on their facilities and hospitality.
Simon Numphud, managing director at AA hotel and hospitality services, said: ‘The winning caravan sites have all stood out for demonstrating an extremely high standard of customer service and experience, combined with hard work and dedication, making them worthy winners of the AA’s prestigious Caravan and Camping Awards. Caravanning and camping are key to the British hospitality industry, and it’s important that we continue to support the sites located throughout the UK.’
