Three in a row as Brodick ladies lift Kiscadale Salver
Brodick Golf Club ladies were the proud winners of the Kiscadale inter-club matchplay competition last week which saw the club lifting the Kiscadale Salver for the third consecutive year.
Taking place over five days starting on Tuesday April 17, at Whiting Bay, the matches started off very wet underfoot but as the tournament progressed the course dried out and by Saturday, the final day, the sun was shining and conditions were perfect for golf.
Women golfers from Brodick, Lamlash, Machrie Bay and Shiskine clubs – who are part of the Arran Ladies Golf Union (ALGU) – fielded teams to compete for the coveted trophy.
Starting the tournament on Tuesday, Lamlash won one game and lost another against Brodick while Shiskine won both their games against Machrie.
On Thursday evening Lamlash won one game and lost one against Machrie while Brodick won two very tight matches against Shiskine, one of which went to the last putt on the 18th green. At this stage the scores were: Brodick 6pts, Lamlash and Shiskine 4pts each, and Machrie 2pts
On the final day Brodick won both their matches against Machrie giving them a final score of 10 points to win the Kiscadale Salver for the third consecutive year. Shiskine won both their matches against Lamlash giving them a score of eight to become the runners up.
A spokewoman for the ALGU said: ‘Congratulations to the Brodick team for their win, Captain Isobel MacDonald, Ann May, Susan Butchard, Margaret Roxburgh and Heather Raeside.
