First bowl at Blackwaterfoot

-

Bowlers got the season off on the right foot as 12 members of the Blackwaterfoot Bowling Club gathered last Saturday to take part in the first tournament of the season.

The ends were fiercely contested and the eventual winner was John Robinson. In second place was Keith Kelsall, followed by Jenny Douglas in third place.

Light refreshments were enjoyed after the game and members are looking forward to a season of good bowling in fine weath- er. The Blackwaterfoot rink is situated behind the Shiskine Golf Club tearoom and is the only outdoor carpet rink on Arran.

Brodick Bowling Club

Brodick Bowling Club open their season today (Saturday) at 2pm, and extend an invitation to all island bowlers to join them on that day.

The club is keen to encourage anyone who wants to try out the game to come along any weekday between the hours of 10.30am and 4.30pm, when the bowling green and tennis courts are open to the public.

Members will be on duty each day and are very willing to explain the game to novices who want to have a go. Age is no barrier, as the club has sets of bowls for youngsters as well.

The club’s rink games are held at 6.45pm each Monday and Wednesday, and on Saturdays at 2pm, and an open invitation to join in, or try it out for the first time, is extended to all.
