Whiting Bay B&B is judged best in Scotland

-

Cruickshanks Boutique B&B in Whiting Bay has been named the best bed and breakfast in Scotland at the national AA awards.

At an award ceremony held in London recently the association singled the B&B out for its diversity, individuality, uniqueness and friendliness.

Already holding a five-star gold AA rating, Cruickshanks, which overlooks Whiting Bay, was awarded the accolade for its views, high standard of finish and thoughtful extras. The 19th-century building is the home of Rob and Nanette Cowieson, who have lovingly and painstakingly restored the remarkable old building over a period of two years, creating a comfortable and welcoming destination.

While luxuriously appointed, the B&B offers a homely feel with a woodburning fireplace set in a comfortable lounge complete with relaxing sofas and a library.

Helping them earn the accolade, the home-baking that guests receive on ar- rival, along with the quality of the breakfasts, are given as being among the many reasons the Whiting Bay establishment stands out from the crowd.

Cruickshanks’ owner Rob said: ‘The award came as something of a bolt from the blue and we are delighted to receive this honour.

‘This represents a tourist award hat-trick for Arran which currently and simultaneously holds the AA Scotland small campsite of the year with Seal Shore Camping and Touring Site and the AA glamp- ing site of the year with Runach Arainn Glamping.’

The popular B&B received Arran’s first AA five-star gold rating after only months of trading last year.

Its three en-suite rooms, each of which is unique and offering elevated views of the bay, have ensured that Cruickshanks continues to be highly regarded and in constant demand, operating to near maximum capacity since it opened.
