Faye storms to top spot at Showing Show

The Arran Riding Club held its annual Showing Show on Sunday July 8 at Balgowan farm in Shiskine, by kind permission of the Tod family.

The showing championsh­ip was won by Faye Anderson and her horse Red Storm Rising. Reserve champion went to Danielle Mutch and Grantstown Unique. In the championsh­ip for working hunter classes Beth Hamilton and Kissme took the title with Rosie Wilkinson and Milo the reserve champion.

All riders, horses and ponies enjoyed the wonderful weather and the results were as follows: In hand horses and ponies five years and over: 1 Faye Anderson and Red Storm Rising, 2 Eva McCrae and Stella S, 3 Jessica Tetlow and Ben, 4 Janis Murchie and Woody.

Showing Under saddle ponies 13.2hh and under: 1 Lily Currie and Missy, 2 Annie West and Harry Fudge, 3 Daisy McNamara and Fudge, 4 Rosie Wilkinson and Milo.

Showing under saddle ponies over 13.2hh and not exceeding 15hh: 1 Danielle Mutch and Grantstown Unique, 2 Clair Hendry and Colin, 3 Emma Popplewell and Emma of Craignetha­rty, 4 Liz Kennedy and Scole Turbo.

Showing under saddle horses over 15hh and not exceeding 16hh: 1 Vicki Yuill and Velvet, 2 Janis Murchie and Island Boy, 3 Lois Ashley and Kippin, 4 Beth Hamilton and Kissme.

Showing under saddle horses 16hh and over: 1 Jen McNeish and RockhillAn­aman, 2 Eilidh McNeil and Indie, 3 Hannah Bone and Tema, 4 Diane Lewis and Corrie.

Working/Handy Hunter rider 12 years and under. Jumps 30cm max: 1 Annie West and Harry Fudge, 2 Rosie Wilkinson and Milo, 3 Rosie McNamara and Prince, 4 Lisa Henderson and Teddy.

Novice Working Hunter. Jumps 60cm max: Junior 1 Lily Currie and Missy, 2 Daisy McNamara and Fudge. Senior 1 Beth Hamilton and Kissme, 2 Hollie Adamson and Ricki, 3 Emma Popplewell and Emma of Craignetha­rty, 4 Clair Hendy and Colin.

Open Working Hunter. Jumps 90cm max: 1 Hannah Bone and Tema, 2 Vicki Yuill and Velvet, 3 Eilidh McNeil and Indie, 4 Ealana Jean and Corrie.

Best Rider 10 years and under: 1 Rosie Wilkinson and Milo, 2 Rosie McNamara and Prince, 3 Eva McCrae and Fudge, 4 Lisa Henderson and Teddy.

Ridden Veteran – open to all horses and ponies 15 years and older: 1 Rosie Wilkinson and Milo, 2 Liz Kennedy and Scole Turbo, 3 Lily Currie and Missy, 4 Kirsty Morrison and Pearl.

Best Rider in show was awarded to Rosie Wilkinson. Horse/pony in best condition was given to RockhillAn­aman, owned and ridden by Jen McNeish. Tack and turnout was awarded to Danielle Mutch and Grantstown Unique.

The club wishes to thank the judges for travelling to Arran for the day, all horses, ponies, riders and spectators for coming along and supporting and a special thanks to the Tod family for hosting the event at Balgowan Farm so successful­ly once again.

The next event will be a training camp on Saturday July 21 followed by The Jumping Derby on Sunday July 22.
