Trust in hunt for wildlife award
The Arran Trust has been shortlisted for a business award in the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) Nature of Scotland Awards.
The awards, now in their seventh year, aim to celebrate those people and projects who passionately work towards excellence and innovation in Scottish conservation.
There are nine categories in the awards which includes a political advocate of the year, an innovation award, sustainable development and a young nature champion award.
Arran Trust has been shortlisted in the business category with Barratt Homes, Scottish Water and Wild Planet Explorers as the other contenders.
The business award is awarded to organisations, large and small, that can clearly demonstrate what they have done for the benefit of nature in Scotland.
The applications will be considered for standing out from the crowd and by doing things differently. They are also judged based on the impact delivered in proportion to the size of business and available resource.
Established in 2010, the Arran Trust is a visitor gifting scheme which funds projects looking after the landscape and environment of Arran. The trust works alongside community groups and businesses to improve sustainable practice and safeguard the future of the island.
Anne McCall, director of RSPB Scotland, said: ‘One of the highlights of my job as director of RSPB Scotland and chair of the judging panel for the Nature of Scotland Awards is to be given the opportunity to sit down and read all the applications. Each year as we get more, it becomes a bigger job but one I love as I learn about the inspiring projects and people working hard to conserve Scotland’s important habitats and wildlife.

A black-tie presentation dinner to announce the winners will take place at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Edinburgh, on the Thursday November 22.
