Arran residents to get say on streetscene budgets
Residents of Arran are being invited to have their say on how some street maintenance and cleaning budgets could best be spent as part of an initiative known as Participatory Budgeting.
The proposals aimed at Shaping North Ayrshire urge people to get involved in helping to mould local services that affect them.
The Arran consultation will be at Brodick Hall on Tuesday October 9, between 11am and 1pm, and in Shiskine Hall between 2pm and 3.30pm.
At the sessions, residents will learn about the relevant Streetscene budget and what it covers. They will weigh up all the options, analyse various scenarios and dis- cuss with council officials how they think the money should be spend.
Further consultation will take place in late January 2019 before any decisions are made.
Successful
Councillor Louise McPhater, cabinet member for communities, said: ‘The pilot last year in the Three Towns proved really successful so it is great this is being rolled out across North Ayrshire.
‘This is another “participatory” approach. It’s about the council’s budget and how we spend it. We want people to have their say and be involved in the whole democratic process. You really could have an impact in Shaping North Ayrshire.’
