Top league after hitting Galston for six

-

Arran travelled to Kilwinning last Sunday to play Galston SAFC knowing a win would take them top of the Division One league table and they dominated the game from start to finish.

Grant Adamson was handed his first start and repaid his manager’s faith as he opened the scoring after a good ball in from Archie McNicol. The goal had been coming as a fit-looking Arran had already hit the woodwork twice and spurned a few good opportunities.

Johnny Sloss was looking back to his best as he tormented some of the Galston players with his direct style and he also scored a great goal to seal his man of the match award. Archie McNicol was up to his usual tricks and, despite meeting a goalkeeper in top form, managed to bag a brace which included a cheeky free kick which was recorded on camera and has gone viral online.

Toby Wingham also continued his fine form with a brace which included an impossible looking looping header. The final score of 6-0 flattered the Galston lads and manager Alan Murray now has a selection headache with more quality players returning from injury.

The team travel to Kilmarnock to play Glencairn Thistle on Sunday (tomorrow) with a 12.30pm kick off at Scott Ellis Park. The next scheduled home game is versus league champions Killie Athletic on October 28 with a noon kick off at Ormidale Park.

The club would like to thank Arran Haulage and Armitage Groundworks for their kind donations towards running costs this season.
