Runners take giant steps to complete their training
The Arran Pace Makers, a JogScotland group run by Lorna Logan and Gordon McInnes, have seen their first group of beginner runners graduate from their final week of the JogScotland beginners’ programme.
Next level
Having started in October last year, the group, who have attained Level One and are able to run for 15 minutes continuously, will now advance to the next level of training in order to double their running time.
This achievement is remarkable as some of the participants had only just started running and some could not previously have run for more than a few minutes without having to take a break.
The runners who completed the 10-week course are Mark and Sue Berry, Stephen Brown, Joan Thomson, Katy Penn, Hazel Currie, Teresa Beckett, Allan Soutter and Dougie McInnes.
Proud
Jog leader Lorna said: ‘Gordon and myself are incredibly proud of the commitment and progress made by the group. They have all done exceptionally well and are ready to step up to the next stage.’
The group meet on a Tuesday at the Ormidale Pavilion in Brodick at 5.30pm and there is also a mixed ability group which takes place on a Wednesday. A JogScotland – Isle of Arran mixed ability group also meets in Whiting Bay every Monday at 5.30pm.
Anyone interested in joining the Arran Pace Makers or anyone who is thinking of taking up running as a sport can contact Lorna on 07767 704434 or Gordon on 07469 230379.
The classes are all undertaken by trained jog leaders and can accommodate all levels of fitness.
