It’s all fun and games at the Brodick toy sale

Organisers of a fundraising event for Brodick Nursery have been pleasantly surprised at the success of their toy sale and homebaking day which raised more than £1,200.

Taking place in Brodick Hall earlier in the month, the nursery invited the parents of early years children to donate any unwanted or excess toys which could then be sold on at ‘pocket money’ prices.

Parents and supporters, favouring the idea and using it as an opportunity to do much needed clear outs, donated so many toys, games, clothing and books that the length and breadth of the hall was filled with mountains of toys piled high on the tables.

Bargain hunters left with bags full of toys and games, and young children were delighted to be able to purchase so many of their favourite collectables, action figures and characters all at once. Equally popular, children enjoyed some crafting activities with Kirsty Park and having their faces painted by Gemma Bennett. On offer, too, was a popular tombola and raffle with prizes donated by a large number of supportive Arran businesses.

For the adults, a refreshing cup of tea with a large assortment of donated homebaking was just the remedy for recovering after an afternoon of shopping with excited children.

Aileen Brand of Brodick

Nursery said: ‘A big thank you to all who came along to support our toy sale today, for all the lovely baking, wonderful raffle and tombola prizes and all who helped out. We really do appreciate all your continued support, delighted to say we made over £1,200 for the nursery. Wow!’

All of the money raised will be used for educational resources and to fund projects at the nursery. While Brodick Nursery receives support from North Ayrshire Council, it is privately run and has to fundraise to support itself.
