Fèis Arainn organisers help spread the Gaelic message
Even though Fèis Arainn seems a long way off, as it takes place at the end of July, organisers are already hard at work with two events over the next two weeks for potential participants as well as for members of the public who have an interest in learning Gaelic.
On both Monday February 24, and the following day, two fèis tutors will be visiting all the primary schools to inform the children about all the fun learning to be had and encourage the children to participate in the fèis week in the summer.
Then, on Saturday March 7, feis organisers are hosting a Gaelic learners’ fun day at the Ormidale Pavilion in Brodick, between 11am and 1pm and another one later in the day between 2pm and 4pm.
This event is for anyone who is interested in learning some spoken Gaelic. During the two-hour session, attendees will primarily be finding out about the language and phrases used at the fèis but expanding that into some simple conversational Gaelic that anyone can use.
Anyone with an interest in Fèis Arainn is also invited to attend their AGM which takes place on Sunday March 1, at 2pm at the Ormidale Pavilion in Brodick.
Fèis Arainn returns this year for a week of fun, instrumental tuition, singing, drama and art starting on Tuesday July 28 to Friday July 31. The online registration will go up on the website on Monday March 30. Due to the increasing costs of professional tutors, transport and accommodation there is an increase in the registration fees but the deposit system will still be in place.
