Sir, Lamlash Events will be running the third Arran Rock ’n’ Blues Festival on September 26 and 27 this year.

The festival takes place in a marquee on Lamlash Green over the weekend with a sensational line-up of around 20 great bands plus a marketplace for island businesses to showcase their wares.

Last year we sold out of 500 tickets prior to the event and we are expecting the festival to again bring a boost to many businesses on the island.

We had great feedback on the success of last year’s event and if you have anything you would like to share with us you are invited to the public consultation event we are holding. This will be held at the Co-op in Brodick from 10am to 4pm on April 12. Alternatively you can find out more about the festival on Facebook or take a look at our website www.arranrockandbluesfest. co.uk.

Since the inception of the festival, each year we are being required to provide more infrastructure over and above that provided last year. We are being asked to have a disabled accessible toilet close to the marquee on the green and to pay for four additional police for the event. These, and other such costs, are in addition to the cost of bands, travel, accommodation, marquee and licences.

Ticket costs cannot cover all these expenses and remain reasonable, therefore, we are looking at other avenues to subsidise the event. One such avenue is sponsorship either as a friend of Lamlash Events or a business. Another is advertising in the programme which will be distributed in music venues further afield.

Should you feel able to offer support, please get in touch or donate through our website on the Get Involved page.

Any money raised by the festival will go to Lamlash Events which is a not-for-profit organisation run by island residents who have been driving Santa’s Sparkle for the last three years, the Rock ’n’ Blues Festival and supporting the Arran VegFest which should have been this weekend.

Lamlash Events is committed to creating opportunities to encourage visitors to Arran and to ensure local businesses benefit and the community enjoys the events. The marketplaces at the Rock ’n’ Blues Festival and Santa’s Sparkle showcase the great work of crafters and artists along with local produce. We hope to see you at our events and thank you for supporting Lamlash Events. Yours, The directors, Lamlash Events.
