Arran lockdown birthdays
Last week we asked readers if they had a child celebrating their birthday during lockdown.
Since they can’t enjoy a birthday celebration with friends and family, we said we would love to give them a shoutout in the paper.
As a result, Mhairi Hartley sent us photographs of her youngest and oldest children having birthdays during the lockdown.
Lachlan McKinnon, age eight, from Corrie, had his birthday on May 13.
All he wanted was to see his Shennie and Pops (grandparents) so Mhairi took him to Lochranza to say hello at the gate when she was delivering shopping to them.
Mhairi also sent a photograph of her daughter Katie Morrison, also from Corrie, who was 22 on May 19. Her mum said: ‘Katie was meant to have been graduating from Stirling University on June 24 with a BA (Hons) in English and Secondary Education. Sadly her graduation was cancelled and all her plans and celebrations have been put on hold until all the family can celebrate with her.’
Hayley Glister had her seventh birthday on May 1 and her brother Callum had his 10th birthday the following day at their home in Lamlash. ‘We celebrated with party food, games and video calls from family and friends,’ mum Laura said.
While on Monday of this week, Isla McKinnon celebrated her ninth birthday in lockdown at home in Brodick. Mum Michelle said: ‘Happy ninth birthday to this awesome kid.
‘Thank you to everyone who helped make her lockdown birthday so special.’
