Sannox Cricket Club confirm fun day cancellation

-

Cricket Club have confirmed that the annual fun day which takes place at the Ormidale pavilion in Brodick will not go ahead this year owing to safety concerns regarding Covid-19.

The fun day, which sees summer visitors and locals dressing up for a day of not-too-serious cricket, usually takes place a week before the Brodick Highland Games and is a highlight of the summer calendar for many.

In addition to the cricket there is usually a tombola, food stalls and lively music and a beer tent which helps to ensure that that the six-a-side tournament is very well attended each year.

Organiser Eric Dunn said: ‘We’ve held off as long as possible to see if we might be able to hold the event this year. Unfortunately, it’s just not practical for us to adhere to social distancing rules, especially when most people are crammed into the beer tent when the rain is lashing down.

‘Therefore, with a heavy heart we regret to advise that this year’s fun day is cancelled but we will see you again in 2021.’
