Whiting Bay Golf Club
Wednesday August 5, The McNicol Cup. After the monsoon rains of Tuesday, 11 played in the McNicol Cup. Surprisingly the morning players made it round almost dry. Of those who played in the evening, only two have been heard of again! But one of them bagged second place so it can’t have been too bad.
Result: 1 Ronnie Mann (13) 61; 2 Jamie Macpherson (5) 63 acb, lowest gross; 3 John Pennycott( 12) 63; 4 Markus Kroner (7) 65. CSS stayed at 63 and Ronnie Mann bagged the only magic two of the day @17th.
Sunday August 9, The Roy
Ure Tankard. A beautiful summer day drew a good field of 25 for the Roy Ure Tankard, a popular Stableford usually played earlier in the year. Despite the fine condition of the course, a north easterly breeze rendered shot making more difficult than usual and CSS went out to 64/35 Stableford points.
Result: 1 Kevin Jackson (8) 38 points; 2 Dave Hackett (15) 37; 3 David Blair (13) 36; 4 Markus Kroner (7) 35. Five magic twos were recorded: Ryan Armstrong and Adam Kelso @4th, Kevin Jackson @11th and David Blair and Jamie Macpherson @17th.
Fixtures: Wednesday August 12, Summer Trophy. Sunday August 16, Captain’s Prize (Yellow Tees Stableford). Until further notice there will be no draws for partners and members should arrange their own groupings. For the Captain’s Prize, and to accommodate an early afternoon prizegiving, the tee has been reserved from 10am to 11am.
