New branding gets quality message across at butchers
New branding is to be used by The Arran Butcher to let customers know most of its beef, pork, lamb and wild venison is naturally reared on the island.
As part of the relaunch of the Scotch Butchers Club, The Arran Butcher will be showcasing the club’s new branding in a bid to support independent butchers to take a leading role as ‘Champions of Scotch’.
It will promote the impressive provenance, welfare and environmental credentials of Scotch Lamb PGI, Scotch Beef PGI and Specially Selected Pork. The Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) logo guarantees a genuinely authentic product.
David McKinnon, butcher and owner of The Arran Butcher, said the new branding and strategy has modernised the Scotch Butchers Club. ‘It’s great to be able to showcase the club’s new branding in our store,’ he said. ‘It’s a fresh, modern take on our profession which has been proudly serving the public for generations and I think it will appeal to a wider audience.
‘The majority of our lamb is reared here on the island, only a mile down the road from us at Kilpatrick Farm. It is important to us that our customers know we have the best quality local produce, as well as knowing exactly where it comes from. As members of the Scotch Butchers Club, we have access to promotional material and support which can help tell that story.
‘As well as our lamb being reared on the island, our venison is fresh off the hills of Arran Estate in Brodick. At The Arran Butchers we take pride in providing our customers with fresh Arran meat.’
The Blakwaterfoot shop also sells a wide range of fresh fish.
As part of the relaunch, the Scotch Butchers Club will be encouraging members, suppliers and customers to build a greater sense of community.
Lesley Cameron, director of marketing and communications, said: ‘This year, butchers have taken on a greater role in our everyday lives, prompting an increase in footfall to butchers’ shops around the country as consumers took a welcome increased interest in the provenance of the beef, lamb and pork they were buying.
‘The Scotch Butchers Club rebrand is a renewed opportunity for butchers to showcase to customers the impressive combination of traditional skills and innovation that the modern butcher’s business represents, while protecting the integrity of the Scotch label.’
