Distillery does its bit to save Waverley

-

Isle of Arran Distillers is helping to raise funds to save the Waverley paddle steamer by auctioning an exclusive bottle of single cask whisky.

Open for bids via www.whisky.auction, the whisky is number one of just 225 bottles of 12-year-old single malt aged in a single bourbon barrel and bottled at 59.6 per cent ABV.

Campbell Laing, tour guide at Lochranza Distillery, had the idea to reserve a cask to raise money for the ship’s repairs, with £10 from each bottle sold going to the cause. In recognition, Campbell was given bottle number one, which he has now chosen to auction to raise more funds for the Waverley.

The Isle of Arran Distillers team said: ‘Many Scots hold fond memories of times spent on it enjoying the journey up and down the West Coast. We at Isle of Arran Distillers, together with our thoughtful and generous tour guide Campbell Laing, want to do our best to help ensure the Waverley keeps sailing. It is not every day you can find bottle number one of an Arran single cask, and what better occasion to get involved, donate and support a good cause.

We would also like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the wonderful team at Whisky. Auction for making all this possible.’

The bottle is packaged along with a hipflask and mini glass decanter with matching tot glasses. The auction will be live until Tuesday December 8. Bidders can register for an account by visiting www.whisky.auction.
