It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas on Arran
Christmas trees and decorations have started to appear all over Arran in the last week in an effort to spread some festive cheer in these challenging times.
In Lamlash, a spectacular tree has appeared thanks to Lamlash Improvements Committee which funded the lights and star.
The group enlisted the help of the Arran Fire Service to erect the tree, which was supplied by Forestry and Land Scotland.
John Thomson Construction transported the tree and many people have been flocking there every evening with one visitor describing it as a beacon of hope in exceptional times.
In Brodick, the Village Hall is ablaze with colour, and with little outside lighting the bright blue and green lights are amplified in the darkness.
Along Brodick Main Road, between Hunters Guest House and the chocolate shop, the walkway is filled with twinkling lights, creating a festive atmosphere. Many more trees and decorations will undoubtedly start to appear across the island in the next few days and weeks as other villages and organisations start to put up their decorations.
This Sunday, P7 pupils from Shiskine Primary School will be lighting their village Christmas tree which will be live streamed on Facebook. The pupils have already decorated their school railings with festive decorations.
And, as for taking the trees down, tradition dictates that this should be done on January 5 or 6 on what is known as Twelfth Night. But if you want to extend the festive feeling for as long as possible, we suggest just ignoring that!
