Video Christmas concert staged by music school

-

The Isle of Arran Music School is working on releasing videos next week in lieu of a Christmas concert.

Clarsach, chanter, drums, pads and pipes students have been working hard with their tutors all throughout these Covid times.

The charity moved to online teaching almost as soon as the schools closed and produced videos in June to mark the end of the school year.

Building on this success and to ensure that the students still improve their performance skills, it was decided to create more videos for Christmas.

The charity, tutors and students would also like to use the videos as a way to say thankyou to the Co-op for being chosen as one of the projects for its community funding.

When folk buy selected Coop products and services at any of the island’s stores, 2p for every £1 spent goes into their membership account.

In addition, the Co-op split the same between like-minded organisations and local causes.

The Isle of Arran Music School, founded in 2017, works in partnership with Isle of Arran Pipe Band and island schools to provide high quality, traditional music tuition, re-energising piping and drumming on the island.

Their ethos champions inclusivity and removes barriers to access.

This funding will enable the charity to kit out the schools’ pipe band, for the first time, in kilts using the Isle of Arran tartan.

If anyone would like to support the charity, the cause can be found here https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/46315 and search for Isle of Arran Music School on Facebook to see their new videos this weekend and previous videos.
