Back to home-teaching as schools stay shut
Schools on Arran, like the rest of Scotland, will remain closed for the rest of the month.
Teachers across North Ayrshire will deliver lessons using both online and traditional paper-based resources to ensure all pupils continue to receive support and learning throughout this difficult time as parents return to home teaching.
Arran High School remains open for the children of key workers and children and young people who require more support.
And all children who are eligible for free school meals will continue to receive them during this period.
A North Ayrshire Council spokeswoman said: ‘Following the first minister’s announcement, we can confirm that teaching and learning will be delivered remotely with a mix of online resources and more traditional resources (textbooks and worksheets) until at least Monday February 1 2021. Councillor John Bell, cabinet member for education and youth employment, said: ‘We understand this is an uncertain and challenging time for our school staff, parents/carers and young people.
‘We want to ensure our children and young people continue to learn, therefore, our teachers will be delivering online learning as well as using traditional resources to ensure everyone, regardless of whether they are in school or at home, can access education.
