Eco Savvy expands ebike offering to key workers
Environmental group Eco Savvy has added an extra boost to its ebike fleet that is currently being used to assist key workers with environmentally-friendly transportation, writes Colin Smeeton
The new bikes, supplied by Dales in Glasgow and funded by the Energy Saving Trust (EST) – three compacts and one all-terrain bike – increases the fleet of electric bicycles to 15.
Usually borrowed out to members of the public and organisations on Arran for experiencing the technology and for creating awareness of less polluting vehicles, the bicycles have now been put to a new use by key workers and volunteers, who have used them for delivering medicines and providing other vital services during the pandemic.
A spokesperson from Eco Savvy said: ‘We are delighted to be expanding the fleet and hope to get the bikes out to key workers as soon as possible.
‘We would like to encourage any key worker, whether you are working in health care, energy, transport, teaching, food provision or any other key job to get in contact and to see how ebikes work for you as an alternative, low-carbon way of getting about.
