Sunday April 4, The Roy Ure Tankard. A total of 23 played in the Roy Ure Tankard, the popular Stableford season starter. Conditions were fine but the wintery weather forecast for later in the day started to make its presence felt as a cool wind got progressively stronger as the morning progressed.

Perhaps reflecting the long winter absence, scoring was steady rather than spectacular, but 19 cards returned scores of 30 points or more and four players tied on 36 points. Congratulations though to Dave Hackett, winner of the prestigious Roy Ure Tankard for 2021 by the narrowest of margins – a countback on the last three holes of the front nine.

Result: 1 Dave Hackett (14)36pts acb, 2 Neil McKechnie (15)36 acb, 3 Sandy Pringle (14) 36 acb, 4. Ronnie Mann (12)36 acb. There were five magic twos recorded – Jamie MacPherson and Jamie Stewart at @2nd, Graeme Crichton at @4th, David Brookens at @13th and Jamie Stewart at @17th.
