Finalists for Seniors Crystal Bowl are ready to do battle
Whiting Bay will face Machrie Bay in the final of the Seniors Crystal Bowl golf competition after two hard fought semi-finals last weekend.
After a bye in last week’s opening round as host club, Whiting Bay entertained Shiskine at the semi-final stage of the competition.
Despite home advantage, this was no easy tie for Whiting Bay Golf Club as members of the Shiskine team were closely familiar with the course and had beaten Lamlash in the opening round.
As expected the tie was a tight affair.
For Whiting Bay, Gus MacLeod and Ronnie Mann fought out a creditable draw with their Shiskine opponents while in the other game John Pennycott and Dougie Auld battled to a two-hole advantage after 17 holes.
This gave Whiting Bay the match and a place in next week’s final against Machrie Bay who had overcome Brodick in the other semi.
