Targeted by robber pair
TEENAGER ASSAULTED THEN MADE TO TAKE OUT CASH
HOLE-IN-THE-WALL bandits forced a teenager to withdraw money from a cash dispenser in the early hours.
It happened on Falconar Street, Manors, Newcastle, between 5am and 5.20am on Monday, when a man and woman assaulted the 19-year-old.
He suffered minor injuries in the attack, which left him “very distressed”, and police are hunting the couple.
Officers have now released a description of the pair, with the male being white, around 5ft 10in, in his mid 30s and with brown stubble.
He was wearing a dark hoody with his hood up. The woman was white, around 5ft 7in, skinny in build and in her 30s.
She was also wearing dark clothing and both spoke with a Newcastle accent.
Acting Insp Paul Duncan said: “This was a very distressing incident and we are determined to identify the people responsible. We believe it to be an isolated incident but an extensive inquiry is being carried out to reassure the victim and wider members of the public. Our priority is to identify the offenders and put them before the courts but to support that we need any witnesses to the incident to contact police.”
A police spokesperson said: “Officers attended and found that the man had been assaulted by an unknown man and woman before being taken to a nearby cash point where he was made to withdraw a quantity of money.
“The offenders then fled from the scene with the money and the victim was able to contact police.
“Thankfully he only received minor injuries but the incident has left him very distressed.”
