TALES FROM AROUND THE WEB
BETTER CONNECTED
A DECENT internet connection is now more important than a garden or garage when buying a home, new research reveals, but nearly half (47%) of parents don’t know the details of their broadband contract and 34% don’t know their speed.
That’s according to Post Office Broadband’s annual The Connected Family Report, which also found families now spend 38% more time on the internet than they did five years ago.
Coming in the wake of a study which found that two-thirds of Brits are dangerously ‘hooked’ on their devices, the report shows a third of parents say the convenience of being connected is no bad thing as it’s brought them closer as a family.
DON’T FORGET YOUR PODCASTS
GONE are the days when stocking up on holiday entertainment meant grabbing the latest page-turner from WH Smith’s in the departure lounge – a new study from Audible reveals we actually spend more time loading up our digital devices than packing our bags.
The average holidaymaker spends four hours and 16 minutes researching and downloading songs, series, ebooks and podcasts for a one-week getaway, compared to two and a half hours on their suitcase.
In fact, 42% of Brits prioritise their vacation relaxation time and start organising their digital baggage before the sunscreen and sunglasses even come out.
