Why Isaac made the long trip north

1) FOR THE CITY’S FAMOUS PARTY SCENE? OR 2) TO BE A WINNER? (...HINT, IT’S NOT TO GO OUT ON THE TOON)

ISAAC Hayden says he is focused on nothing but promotion with Newcastle United this season.

The former Arsenal man suggested he has no interest in the city’s party scene and is simply looking to become a better player under Rafa Benitez.

Hayden, still just 21, quit London this summer to move north and says he is settling in well.

He told the Chronicle: “When you live 280 miles or so from home or where you have grown up it is not easy.

“I have come here for football not a jolly-up.

“I just knuckle down and learn as much as I can.

“I am a family guy and have a nice family so I am just here to focus.

“I live in a nice quiet area and I just want to come here and do my best with my football.”

Hayden spent last season on loan at Hull and contributed to their promotion season.

Now he feels his experiences will help him at Newcastle.

He added: “Last season was a really good grounding.

“I was at a relegated club but they did not lose too many of their players.

“It was quite similar to here but the infrastructure is totally different here.

“The core values were the same, the squad was good and the manager was good, like here.

“I learned about getting promotion which will help me.”
