Rape case boy locked up

- By ROB KENNEDY

Court Reporter A teenager tied his former girlfriend to a bed and subjected her to a horrific attack in which he raped her.

The dangerous 16-year-old subjected his terrified victim to a shocking pre-planned ordeal lasting twoand-a-half hours. Reporting restrictions mean we cannot reveal his identity.

A court heard the teenager lured the victim to his home in Gosforth, Newcastle, after she ended their relationship.

Newcastle Crown Court heard he had rope tied to the bed.

The court heard the victim, who gave birth to her attacker’s baby, had ended their relationship. A few days later he texted her asking to see his child and she agreed and went to his mother’s home, thinking she would also be present. She was not and the teenager had lured her there to attack her. She suffered injuries to her neck, cheek, arm, leg hand and a cigarette burn to the stomach.

Judge Edward Bindloss told the 16-year-old: “This is one of the most serious cases of rape I’ve ever had to deal with. There is a significant risk of serious harm occasioned by you of further offences. I do find you dangerous.”

The teenager pleaded guilty to rape and was given nine years detention in youth custody with an extended licence period running until 2032. He must also sign the sex offenders register for life.

Mark Styles, defending, said: “He is a confused and troubled young man who has witnessed domestic violence in his formative years and that has left him with his own problems. He is a boy who was struggling to cope with the circumstances he was in.”
