■■THE Northern Athletics Men’s 12-Stage and Women’s 6-Stage Road Relay Championships take place on Saturday at Stanley Park, Blackpool.

The men’s event gets underway at noon followed five minutes later by the women’s championship.

Prior to the main events, Northern Athletics are proposing a new 5k individual and team (3 to score) championships for under-15s and under-17s.

The under-17 men’s race starts at 11am followed by under-17 women (11:05am); under-15 boys (11.15am) and finally the under-15 girls at 11.20am.

THE Transped-supported Blyth Valley 10k takes place on Sunday, April 9 with a 10am start. The popular event, which this year incorporates the North East Counties 10k Road Race Championship, has an entry limit of 600 with entries taken online at www.race-results.co.uk or www.runbritain.com. ■■ELSWICK Harriers’ annual Good Friday Relays take place on April 14.

The programme consists of five events with a new under-11 race opening the day’s proceedings at 9.30am.

That is followed at 9:40 by the under-13 race over 1.6-mile then, over the same distance 10 minutes later it’s the turn of the under-15s.

The senior and veteran women’s 3x2.2-mile relay is scheduled to start at 10am with the final event of the day, the senior men’s 4x2.2-mile relay closing the programme at 11am.
