CASES at South East Northumber­land Magistrate­s Court (including Newcastle remand cases) March 7 and 23

was found guilty of assaulting a man by beating him on May 22 and committing a further offence while subject to a suspended sentence. He was sent to prison for 15 weeks and ordered to pay £50 compensati­on.

pleaded guilty to stealing a jacket, worth £75, from Debenhams on March 19. He was given a 12-month community order, with 60 hours of unpaid work, and was ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge.

pleaded guilty to harassing a woman between February 25 and March 18. He was given an 18-month community order, with 80 hours of unpaid work, and was ordered to pay £85 costs and an£85 victim surcharge.
