Fin-tastic!

-

SLICING through the North Sea, a pod of dolphins make a spectacular sight.

This was captured by Jamie Dobson, who saw the mammals out at sea between Seahouses and Beadnell off the Northumberland coast.

The 32-year-old said: “We were out in the boat when we saw a pair of dolphins riding the waves.

“It was really cool to see them like that - much better than at SeaWorld.

“Apparently they are being seen more and more but I have no idea why they keep coming here.”

The sighting was the second time this year dolphins have been spotted in the North East.

In January, one was seen by Lynn Burlace and her husband Billy, from Sunderland, in the Wear.

Lynn managed to film and snap pictures of the unexpected visitor, and said it an experience she would never forget.

She said: The marina was very busy so we decided to head up past the glass centre and under the bridge past the Stadium of Light.

“We were advised by another walker that there was a ‘dolphin’ further up so just had to see it.

“We weren’t disappointed as it put on quite a show until we had to leave as it was starting to get dark. It was an amazing sight and one I won’t forget.”

The mammal was initially spotted by local birder Mark Harper at Whitburn and the last sighting was reported near the Glass Centre.
