Dale Ought to be happy with result

NORTH EAST WOMEN’S LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

-

TYNEDALE continue to enjoy their best season in the Premier Division, moving up to joint third after their 3-1 home victory over Oughtibridge.

Both sides started brightly but it would be the hosts who would break the deadlock, Megan Watson on target after 11 minutes.

Fifteen minutes later it was 2-0 when Dale were awarded a penalty after Siobhan Simpson was fouled inside the area.

Simpson dusted herself off before calmly stepping up and slotting home the spot kick.

Oughtibridge brought themselves back into the match 10 minutes before half-time through Codi Melia.

Tynedale spurned numerous chances to extend their lead before a quick counter-attack caught Oughibridge out, Watson making a surging run down the left and then cutting inside to net her 18th goal of the season.

Relegated Boldon were thrashed 12-0 at home by Norton and Stockton Ancients.

Boldon have only managed a solitary victory and two draws all season after by-passing the Northern Division and the Durham League.

The basement side found themselves 6-0 down with only 12 minutes gone.

Sian Williams set up Anna Mawston who then herself hit two quick goals, one from the spot, before Mawston netted her second.

Nyci Thorns and Kate McSorley were then on the scoresheet before McSorley claimed her second with an unstoppable 25-yard effort.

Jess White then bagged a brace before Sian Williams completed her hat-trick as the visitors led 10-0 at the break.

The second half saw Mawston complete her hat-trick, heading home a Thorns corner before Williams spectacularly registered her fourth - her 30-yard effort flying in off the underside of the crossbar.

Bottom throughout the season, Boldon stay on minus four points.

Wallsend’s hopes of playing only their fifth home match of the season were scuppered, receiving a walkover after York City forfeited the match.
