Benfield are out to halt Jarrow march

NEWCASTLE Benfield host Jarrow Roofing BCA tomorrow with home boss Mark Convery saying: “We are pretty much at full strength, the only player out is Scott McCarty with a pulled hamstring.

“They’re on a good run at the moment and have good players so it will be a tough game.”

Roofing captain Shaun Vipond is still suspended and his manager Richie McLoughlin said: “Benfield have two of the best strikers in the league.

“However, we are on a great run of form and we will not be intimidate­d by them.”

Morpeth Town travel to Newton Aycliffe and manager Nick Gray said: “We have a full squad available. Newton Aycliffe is a tough place to go too. We need to continue the good run we are on.”

South Shields are at home to Bishop Auckland and secretary Philip Reay said: “The management team will have to assess several players who picked up knocks in midweek, David Foley being the main concern.”

Dunston UTS journey to Ryhope CW and Chris Youldon and Carl Jones will be missing and late fitness tests will be required for Dale Burrell, Liam Thear and Dan Capewell.

Bill Montague from the club said: “Hopefully we are now clear of any relegation threat but we must play with pride in the final six games to reach a respectabl­e finish in the table.”

Ryhope CW assistant manager Stuart Gooden said: “Elliott Woods is unavailabl­e due to work and Kyle Davis is out with a back injury, plus Nathan O’Neill is still injured - but Matthew Weirs returns.

“We had an excellent performanc­e against South Shields last Saturday. They beat us 2-1 but we matched them all the way - it is just unfortunat­e we did not get the result we wanted.”

Ashington are at Seaham Red Star and midfielder Shaun Bell will have a late fitness test before the game.

Seaham Red Star manager Chris McCabe will have to wait for fitness tests on Craig Lynch, Andy Johnston and Liam Hodgson.

Bradley Staunch and Lewis Murphy should return but David Palmer is ruled out.

Whitley Bay welcome Consett and are unbeaten in their last six games with four wins and two draws. They will be missing influentia­l midfielder Callum Patton, who is suspended.
