BRITISH AIRWAYS’ new European routes out of Manchester launch next month after an absence of almost 10 years from the regional airport. From May, the national flag carrier will launch a series of summer-only direct flights from Manchester to the popular Spanish sunspots of Alicante, Malaga, Ibiza and Palma, the Greek island of Mykonos and Nice in the south of France as well as a weekly service to London City Airport.

Since reducing its presence at the airport in 2007, BA has operated only its Heathrow shuttle service

Basic each way fares from Manchester to Alicante, Ibiza, Nice and Palma are priced from £49 while services to Malaga are from £59. BA is also launching new flights from Stansted, part of the Manchester Airport Group, to Florence, Geneva and Nice and there will be increased frequency on existing routes to Ibiza and Palma. Flights to Malaga and Faro will also resume for the summer. See britishairways.com
