Labour turn on the Gas to beat Park

WALLSEND Labour are this week celebratin­g a cup double.

Having already won the Charlie Taylor Cup, goals from John Wyres and Scot Jasper give them a 2-1 victory over Newton Park in the Gaskell Irons Cup decider.

Derek Lowson was Park’s scorer.

In the final games in the Premier Division, Blakelaw Social were crowned champions after winning 6-1 at Springbank Social - Liam Anderson with a hat-trick.

Greenside finished runners-up following their 4-0 triumph at Walker Jubilee.

The final game in B Division saw champions Blakelaw Towers lose 5-4 at Heaton Meadowfiel­d.

Sam Grieveson grabbed a hattrick for Meadowfiel­d and Scot Ormston a brace for the Towers.

Scotswood Social and 42nd Street completed their fixtures in C Division.

Scotswood lost 5-3, Thomas Todd and Jonna Chisholm both scoring twice for Street.

Wallsend Town are D Division champions courtesy of a 2-0 result at Blue Bell.

Lewis Grainger notched two goals for Newcastle Jubilee in their 4-0 success at Pinnacle.

Only one game will take place on Sunday - the Bob Younger Associatio­n Cup final between Westfield Social and Greenside.

Kick-off at Benfield Sports Ground is 10.45.

THE league is looking for teams for the 2017-18 campaign.
