BA BOOSTS ITS BROADBAND

BRITISH Airways will start introducin­g paid-for superfast 4G wi-fi on its long-haul fleet this month.

Passengers will be offered two levels of internet access and can sign up for one hour, four hours or the full flight.

Simply Connect will offer basic web browsing, email and instant messaging with prices from £4.99, while Connect Plus has a faster connection speed supporting video streaming services, starting at £7.99.

Rolling out wi-fi on short-haul planes will start later this year.

AMERICA ON A BUDGET

NORWEGIAN is launching lowcost Dreamliner routes to Seattle and Denver from Gatwick in September.

One-way fares for flights on the 344-seat, state-of-the-art Boeing 787 jets will start at £199 and are on sale now (norwegian.com/uk).

HOTEL’S HERITAGE MAKEOVER

LIVERPOOL’S iconic Atlantic Tower hotel has completed its year-long upgrade.

The look of the four-star waterfront Mercure property reflects the city’s maritime and musical heritage – with the sea to the fore in public areas and the 225 rooms featuring record motifs and crowd scenes.

Rates start at £49 a night (mercure.com).

HARD ROCK HOTEL MALTA

A FIVE-star Hard Rock hotel will debut in Malta in 2020.

The property is to be built in the town of St Julian’s to the north of Valletta and the plans outline 370 rooms and suites with bay views, upscale food and drink outlets including a rooftop lounge, pools and a Body Rock fitness centre (hardrockho­tels.com).
