Bar victory leaves Club Snooker-ed

THE Snooker Club were edged out 9-8 by Westoe Bar B in a top-of-the-table clash in the South Tyneside Super League.

It was Bar B who took a 4-1 advantage into the singles.

Paul Morrison and Dave Stephenson won for the Snooker Club, as did Dave Hatch for the Westoe.

Jim Hewison and Andy Nellist, Karl Elliott and Peter Stephenson and Gordon Barkas and Paul Johnson drew their games.

Stephenson and Johnson also hit 180s.

The Westoe Bar A played the Snooker Club B and took a slender 3-2 lead into the singles’ rundown.

George Morley won for the Snooker and John Naughton Shaun Galloway, Bob Compton Davy Mochan drew their games.

However, wins for Ray Stobbs, Jimmy Hudson and Derek Boak gave the Westoe a 11-6 victory.

At the Cyprus the Westoe Room were the visitors and it was the latter who took a 5-0 lead into the singles.

It did not get any better for the Cyprus squad as Chris Stephenson, John Neilson, Dave Hayes, Dean Apes and Steve Graham all won to give the Westoe a 15-0 lead.

It was not until the last game Shaun Fairweathe­r drew with Peter Buglass to claim Cyprus’s only point as they crashed 16-1.

Alberta played the Voyager and were 5-0 up after the triples and the pairs, eventually going on to triumph 15-2.

The Caledonian just squeezed past Boldon Lad 9-8.
